Blue Origin LLC Manager - Engines, Combustion Devices in Seattle, Washington

We need you to help lead an amazing team of combustion device specialists within the Blue Origin Engines engineering team. What does a combustion device specialist do? We design, build, and test all injectors, chambers, nozzles, thrusters, igniters, and related components used in Blue Origin's engines and spaceflight systems. That's a lot to cover, and we are growing our team to get it all done! In this role you will lead a tight-knit team of 8-15 great engineers through the complete employee experience, including hiring, performance management, training and career development. You will mentor team members through designing, developing, building, and testing combustion devices using both established techniques and developing new standards for things no one has attempted before. You will work with product leaders to establish program staffing and budgets, and with technical specialists to improve processes and tools in areas such as component design, data reduction and numerical modeling. You will also maintain and grow your own technical skills by contributing to and leading component design, test and manufacturing. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise and leadership skills to positively impact safe human spaceflight.Passion for our mission and vision is required! Qualifications: Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering (aerospace, mechanical, chemical or physics desired) Experience leading teams through complextechnical/organizationalchallenges, earning trust and fostering strong, collaborative relationships within and outside of the team Strong technical fundamentals in fluids, thermodynamics, heat transfer and/or combustion 5+ years of aerospace industry or related field experience Experience designing and/or developing hardware for challenging operational environments Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum Desired: Engineering M.S. or higher 3+ years liquid rocket engine experience Knowledge of the hardware life cycle from conception to production Familiarity with CAD, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and Design for Manufacturability Familiarity with data analysis and data processing Lean/Six Sigma knowledge, experience of design/production process optimization Compensation range for on site WA applicants is $136,620-$191,268 Other site ranges may differ Inclusivity Statement Don't meet all desired requirements?
