General Summary:

Directs a comprehensive Program Management Organization (PMO) within Qualcomm’s AI Research organization. Works in partnership with executive leadership of the organization and serves as a central resource to drive strategy and operations of a number of research and systems development projects impacting numerous technologies such as Mobile, Automotive, Internet of Things, Wearables, Computing and XR/AR to name just a few. Promotes use of monitoring and reporting tools that ensure consistent tracking of projects across the organization and directs the work of a dedicated team of program and project managers and analysts.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

• 10+ years of Program Management or related work experience.

• 5+ years of working with operating budgets, resources, and/or project financials.

The ideal candidate has a breadth of technical experience as well as deep experience in managing large and complex programs from initiation to completion. This includes working with various business functions including legal, marketing, commercial business units and operations to facilitate the technology transfer of research and systems design to product development.

In addition to a passion for research and AI, the candidate should have a proven track record of leading culture change, promoting efficiency in the program management process, and driving progress for special initiatives across organizations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops and drives the organizational strategy into successful programs and owns decisions necessary for program delivery by partnering across organizations and functions.

  • Partners with executive leadership to develop the strategic direction for the AI Research organization and appropriately communicates that strategy up, down, and across the organization.

  • Focuses on building strategic relationships with key external stakeholders to drive program excellence and works to unite and inspire individuals from different backgrounds, locations, and cultures to solve major challenges.

  • Leads proactive, open, respectful, and inclusive discussions inside and outside the organization about addressing requirements, meeting internal and/or external requirements, and organization-wide implications of that work.

  • Drives creativity and innovation across partner organizations by promoting cross-team collaboration, creating and communicating a vision to inspire breakthrough ideas, leveraging expertise and new technology, and encouraging the same behavior in others.

  • Leads high level, timely, appropriate, ethical, and strategic decision-making requiring alignment across the organization. Evaluates impact of decisions on overall strategic objectives of the company.

  • Leads the organization to determine which tasks are most important and communicates vision for priority changes. Drives strategy into structured execution plans.

  • Coaches others on overcoming setbacks and always adhering to Qualcomm standards of integrity and ethical behavior. Anticipates challenges and plans work around time requirements, resource needs, and team capabilities. Oversees others to ensure teams throughout the organization complete work in a timely manner.

  • Develops, mentors, and motivates leaders within the department and to seek opportunities for continuous learning and improvement.

Skills Required:

  • Strong understanding of AI software and the open-source community

  • Proven track record of leading culture change and driving progress for special initiatives

  • Experience with commercial research and technology transfer

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Pay range:

$219,000.00 - $329,000.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
