Position Overview:

Siemens Mobility Customer Services is seeking a Product Manager Alternative Parts to lead its alternative part development business based in Sacramento, CA. Customer Services is the service arm for Siemens Mobility rolling stock products (Light Rail Vehicles, and Main Transit Lines), covering customer needs throughout North America.

As the product manager for the alternative parts program, you will expand and improve the current service vision for existing products and develop an ongoing strategy of new product development and sales. You will analyze market and competitive conditions to strike a clear path toward the business value of Siemens developed parts and move the offerings to the next level of growth and service.

In this role one will look at parts life cycle management and address material end of life with potential solutions to offer products with new life cycles and you will use your new product development skills to create a portfolio of “form-fit-function” parts equivalents for customers. This role may encompass replacement of obsolete hardware or developing new alternative parts with better performance than original equipment.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Lead the products, solutions and/or services assigned with full responsibility for the results, including definition of customer and market requirements, growth & profit strategies, business planning, road mapping.

  • Constantly observe the market including internal and external factors as well as relevant competitors' product(s), solution(s) and/or service(s) to adjust product strategies and paths forward.

  • Establish, develop, and lead a relevant cross functional team necessary to support the business goals of the product and services.

  • Drive the business performance of the product(s), solution(s) and/or service(s) assigned over the whole product lifecycle in cooperation with all partners over the whole process chain (PLM / SCM / CRM).

  • Incorporate market feedback including customer insights for continuous improvement of the program.

  • Contribute to activities to continuously improve the products developed in this program.

  • Monitor success of program, projects, services, throughput and status of contracts, and/or customer experience performance.

  • Know customer needs through research and market data

  • Create long- and short-term product sales forecasts and analysis for management

  • Determine product pricing based on market research, production costs and anticipated demand

To thrive in this role, you have:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business or Technical discipline,

  • Demonstrated success in product management and new product development,

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office,

  • Ability to make decisions in a challenging environment,

  • Entrepreneurial approach and the ability to drive ideas into a product and overcome challenges and hurdles in developing a new business category,

  • Ability to travel 25% of the time,

  • Setting you apart from others would be a Master’s degree in a business field of study with experience in heavy industry or computer hardware.Experience with Jira and SAP would be a plus.

The base salary range for this position in California is $89,000-$120,100. The actual salary/wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
