GENERAL SUMMARY

Provide leadership and direction for the operational readiness group of Energy Northwest’s Nuclear Development Department. Oversee and conduct program development services to new nuclear projects to advance those power generation projects toward commercial operation.

This position supports new nuclear project development by overseeing and supporting the development of programs required for all facets of nuclear power plant construction and operation, with an emphasis on supporting development of programs related to operations, training, quality assurance, and maintenance.

This leadership position may be responsible for the work of both direct and matrixed employees. Provide training, planning, leadership, direction, support, and development of employees tasked with carrying out program development scope. Typical positions reporting up to this manager include procedure writers, training specialists, quality assurance personnel, and design reviewers.

The scope includes overseeing and supporting applicable program identification, prioritization and scheduling, and addressing or minimizing regulatory challenges. This position will lead the development of the programs for use at new nuclear projects, including identification of NRC, NEI, EPRI or other good practices or regulations that should be incorporated and “right sizing” the program, process, or procedure specifically suited to the advanced reactor design.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Managing – This position manages a group of supervisors and individual contributors to develop new nuclear programs for internal and external stakeholders. These programs will support the commercial operations of new nuclear generation projects. Manage the group in delivering programmatic solutions for functions such as operations, maintenance, training, and quality assurance for new nuclear reactors.

Leading – This position will provide leadership by establishing and communicating a vision for the group. This vision may include the prioritization of current projects, developing solutions and making recommendations regarding new nuclear programs, driving the group to achieve milestone accomplishments, and maintaining ongoing communications with senior management and key project stakeholders, including Columbia Generating Station and EN Corporate organizations related to the programs. Leadership of this area will include a focus on innovation and “right sizing” operation of the advanced reactors.

Business Development – This position will interface with key business stakeholder representatives. Develop and nurture relationships with stakeholders and help maintain EN’s positive reputation in the industry. Lead development of—and provide input to—business proposals and RFP responses.

Planning – This position will be responsible for setting the direction and pace of the group. As needed, perform strategic and/or long-range planning; develop goals and milestone schedules; allocate, assign, and align resources.

People Development – This position will be responsible for a group of supervisors and individual contributors. Provide coaching and mentorship to this group. Perform succession planning for the group. Encourage positive teamwork and resolve interpersonal conflicts. Develop performance reviews and professional development for direct reports. Determine performance ratings, salary actions, promotions, and transfers.

Controlling – This position is responsible for the procedures and processes that govern how the group conducts business. Periodically assess and review group performance and diagnose and triage areas of performance requiring improvement. Foster an environment on continuous improvement throughout the group.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or university and ten years of experience in a combination of operations, maintenance and/or technical nuclear power environment;

OR an Associate’s degree in engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or university with at least twelve years of experience in a combination of operations, maintenance and/or technical nuclear power environment;

OR a high school diploma or GED and 14 years of experience in a combination of operations, maintenance and/or technical nuclear power environment.

Must have at least 3 years of supervisor/manager experience.

Pay Range

$143,226.00 - $214,838.00 Annual

Midpoint:

$179,032.00

Typically, selected candidates are hired between the minimum and midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience and qualifications, market rate, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.

Offers will be negotiated based on each candidate's qualifications.

Incentive Compensation

This role may be eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan. Incentives are earned based on employee performance against defined metrics and company goals.
