Carolina Sunrock Field Service Representative in Raleigh, North Carolina

General Responsibilities:

The Field Service Representative will serve as a conduit of information between the job site (customer and subcontractors) and Sunrock’s Dispatch, Sales, Quality Control, and Operations departments. The position will serve as on-site representation and ensure that both customer and company needs and expectations are met on any job (e.g., testing, truck turns, safety, product quality, etc.) and that critical jobsite information is relayed back to the Dispatch Department so that service adjustments can be made. This role’s field work should focus primarily on large jobs with significant servicing needs and customers who need additional help managing the project. The position will spend approximately two to three months in a training program that will cover the following functional areas: Quality Control, Concrete Operations, Concrete Dispatch, and Sales. The exposure to and an understanding of these areas will be critical to an individual’s success as a Field Service Representative. This role works under general direction receiving very general guidance with respect to overall objectives. Work is usually independent of others but the incumbent operates within division or departmental policy guidelines, using independent judgment to achieve assigned objectives. The position must be available to work any schedule and must report quickly to emergencies during any time of the day. Early starts and late evenings are common during peak season.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complies with all safety policies, procedures and established safe practices. Reports all unsafe conditions and actions to a supervisor and/or Manager Safety and Health.

  • Monitors the safety practices (including PPE) of all team members and proactively addresses deficits.

  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area and meets other housekeeping needs as required by Sunrock, MSHA 30 CFR 56.20003, and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.22.

  • Performs site inspections for next day jobs to firm up Dispatch schedule.

  • Arrives on-site and preps site prior to arrival of first truck.

  • Relays information back to Dispatch mid job to help adjust the schedule to ensure no under/over servicing.

  • Resolves jobsite problems immediately.

  • Supports/Coaches concrete drivers related to site conditions, safety, product quality, speed of unloading, and holds all Sunrock employees to company policies and procedures on and off the jobsite.

  • Documents any problems or unusual site conditions which could adversely affect the quality of the concrete being delivered to the site and forwards to the Senior Field Services Representative, Assistant Manager Concrete Quality Control, and Manager Quality Control as needed.

  • Manages the customer to assure that jobs proceed as quickly as possible with little delay to Sunrock’s fleet.

  • Informs Operations and Maintenance of any truck problems/needed repairs.

  • Makes cylinders, pulls slumps, checks air, and adds admixtures.

  • Breaks cylinders, records and analyzes strength data.

  • Makes recommendations to Quality Control Management regarding mix adjustments and ensures all mixes are performing as designed.

  • Gathers sales information and forwards to the Manager of Sales.

  • Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.

  • Provides leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school required; Bachelor’s degree (B. A. or B. S.) or equivalent from a four-year college or university preferred. Less than one (1) year related experience and/or training required. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Current North Carolina Driver’s License required

  • Ability to obtain NCDOT Concrete Quality Control Technician

  • Ability to obtain ACI Level I Technician
