Professional (+) (Fixed Term) Time Type: Full time Position Term: 12 Month Position Details: Summary of Duties: The Director works closely with the Associate Dean and Director of Extension to provide inspiration, leadership and direction, stakeholder engagement, administrative oversight, and management to advance the initiatives of the WSU Energy Program. Reporting to the Dean, this position is responsible for the oversight and delivery of the programmatic activities, personnel, and sound fiscal management of the program. The Director is the visible leader of the WSU Energy Program, providing thought leadership, strategic vision, and the programmatic investment necessary to garner partnerships and resources that support staff engagement in high-impact programs. Duties and Responsibilities: Team Leadership The Director provides creative thought and inspirational action leadership for Energy Program staff in the development, implementation, and maintenance of program and project goals and objectives. The Director coordinates with team members engaged in program activities to ensure effective and efficient delivery and maintenance of products and services. The Director serves as an advocate supporting Energy Program staff within and outside the institution. Stakeholder engagement The Director represents the WSU Energy Program in public meetings, with federal, state, and local agencies, national organizations, industry, and the general public. Representative key stakeholders include the Washington State Department of Commerce, the Bonneville Power Administration and the U.S. Department of Energy. The Director promotes the Program and coordinates the delivery of program information to include government agencies, the business community, utilities, and the general public in public processes and decision-making as appropriate. The Director is the first point of contact for responding to legislative inquiries and funding agencies. The Director represents and advocates for the Energy Program within WSU, CAHNRS, and to the Institute for Northwest Energy Futures. Financial and administrative oversight The Director holds final decision making authority and responsibility for all budgetary and other administrative activities necessary to carry out program activities, and appropriately delegates activities to other WSU Energy Program personnel. Provides final review and recommendations to WSU institutional authorities on matters concerning program budget process, contract proposals, or other legal/financial issues with the Washington State Department of Commerce, U.S. Department of Energy, the Bonneville Power Administration, as well as other government and private entities. Customer relations and project lead development The Director proactively conducts program outreach with customers and potential customers, including the general public and private utilities, industry and others to identify appropriate market opportunities and customer program requirements for WSU EP products and services. Program and Personnel evaluation The Director conducts evaluation process for programs and personnel and reports to WSU Extension leadership. Required Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in business administration or energy program related field and five (5) years of progressively responsible related program experience which has included at least three (3) years of supervisory experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
