Job Description

The Innovation Engineering Intern is an innovator and a tinkerer that will be working in the front end of the product development funnel to help generate new tool concepts and create prototypes to experiment with and learn from.

This role will work on a range of prototype fidelity from patching existing tools together to modeling up 3D parts in CAD and collaborating with the model shop to have parts made. This role will have the opportunity to generate new product concepts and pitch them at our monthly pitch meeting.

  • Build and evaluate power tool prototypes using CAD, Rapid Prototyping and in-house machine shop.

  • Researching industry trends and new technologies to identify future opportunities for the Dremel Brand.

  • Participate in user research to find pain points and generate solutions

  • Develop sell stories for new concepts created for the Dremel Brand

  • Continue to drive innovation culture in Dremel by regularly pitch at the monthly innovation pitch meeting

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently graduated with (within 6 months) an accredited degree in Mechanical Engineering or Computer Engineering

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA required

  • Experience with CAD (Preferably Pro/Engineer) and prototyping

  • Experience with electrical mockups or prototyping using Arduino or similar preferred

  • Entrepreneurial/Startup thinker

  • Passionate about innovating and learning about innovation

  • Interest in DIY projects, woodworking and making

  • Previous internship or related work experience highly preferred
