Key job responsibilities

You will work as part of one of our small Agile teams, launching and growing new initiatives for Amazon's global business. As an engineer, you can be involved in every aspect of the process - from idea generation, business analysis and technical design through to development and deployment across a variety of technologies - giving you a real sense of ownership. Together we build systems which meet high standards of performance and reliability and operate at massive scale.

A day in the life

As a Software Development Engineer, you will be building exciting new front-end experiences for the Living Room Prime Video client. You will contribute to implementation, architecture and operational excellence as part of your day job.

About the team

We are looking for Software Development Engineers to join the Living Room Client team. Within Prime Video, we are transforming the face of device application technology to provide the most performant, immersive, and fully-featured online video experience to the millions of customers worldwide who love watching Prime Video on their smart TVs, games consoles, DVD players, set-top boxes, and streaming media devices. Delivering a best-in-class experience on these devices is hard because they represent a wide range of performance and hardware capabilities. Addressing this challenge means creating new and innovative solutions and utilising a lightweight client codebase utilising TypeScript and React - allowing us to scale our experience to the thousands of devices that we support and provide updates on-demand.

Our main focus is building the next generation UI experience on living room. We are engaged in breaking new ground in terms of what is possible on the 3P Living Room CX. We will be blending a full suite of existing and exciting new bleeding edge features with an unparalleled ability to measure and improve our own software using detailed and insightful metrics. We build software that allows other teams to add and extend functionality with minimum effort. This requires a keen eye for detail, an ability to design and architect scalable and maintainable software with an absolute focus on the customer experience. Our mission is to build world's best personalised and immersive playback experience for Prime Video users on 3rd Party Living Room devices (Smart TVs, Consoles and Set-top boxes).

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

London, GBR

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems

  • Experience in professional, non-internship software development

  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

  • Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
