We are seeking a Commodity Manager. This role is responsible for supporting our teams in sourcing of components and services for current and future production projects across multiple facilities, developing strong working relationships with our design and sustaining engineering, manufacturing engineering and facilities teams and key suppliers to ensure optimal cost, quality execution and on-time completion. This includes:
Supplier selection and management to ensure on-time completion and optimal cost.
Manage the business relationship with assigned suppliers - establishing, communicating and measuring performance for safety, cost, quality and delivery.
Negotiate & develop master supply agreements with timelines, deliverables, competitive pricing and commercial terms. Provide support on key sourcing and commercial issues for new product development.
Responsible for production material sourcing decisions for relevant components and services. Serve as liaison between Nuvera teams and suppliers. Resolve quality and delivery issues.
Develop supplier actions and activities resulting in lower cost and improved quality.
Maintain a level of technical competence that enables strategic evaluation of supplier engineering expertise, manufacturing capabilities, and quality systems.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Cost Management:
- Supplier selection and negotiated pricing that meets or exceeds project schedule and cost objectives. Negotiate pricing and terms that meet Nuvera’s financial objectives. Create landed cost models to develop action plans and activities with suppliers resulting in lower cost and/or improved quality.
Supply Base Management:
Establish and maintain a global supply base to deliver optimal technology and quality products for the lowest total cost of ownership. Develop, maintain and support sourcing strategies that support Nuvera’s strategic objectives.
Manage and improve supplier performance to meet or exceed objectives.
Select suppliers that support Nuvera’s sourcing objectives, through on-site audits, risk assessments and evaluations of products, operations and systems.
New Product Development
- Manage supplier involvement and commercial issues to meet project schedule and cost objectives. Coordinate with Engineering and suppliers. Provide support ensuring production readiness to support Nuvera’s new model launches.
Required Job Qualifications (unless otherwise noted):
Educational Background
BS Degree in Engineering, Business Administration or related field.
CPSM or CPIM preferred.
Previous Work Experience
- Broad business and commercial knowledge. Minimum five years direct procurement and sourcing. Planning experience is a plus.
Special Skills, Experience and Abilities
Understanding of volume manufacturing processes.
Experience with electromechanical assemblies, components and plastic molded parts.
Knowledge of applicable commodities market(s).
Broad procurement experience, including international sourcing, supplier assessments and selection.
Demonstrated advanced negotiation and problem resolution skills.
Skilled with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions.
Proactive; strong prioritization and follow-up skills; accountable; delivers on their commitments.
Superior communications abilities – verbal, written and presentations.
Physical requirements/Work environment
- Ability to work in a typical office environment.
Travel Required
Up to 20%, which may include international travel.
Willingness to travel by air.
