The Building People Safety and Health Engineer in Beltsville, Maryland
The Building People, LLC, has a position open for a Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene Engineer to complete 3rd party safety inspection at the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center (BARC). The position will complete all inspections according to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines and other relevant guidelines, including, but not limited to American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioner Engineers (ASHRAE), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), National Electric Code (NEC) and the ARS Safety Manual 160 policy and procedures and guidelines.
Required Experience & Skills
Must have detailed and direct knowledge in Biosafety inspections including biological safety cabinets, hazardous materials, and hazardous waste handling.
Minimum of five years of related experience and/or training required.
Contractor will be required to complete local travel to Washington, D.C. to perform safety inspection at United States National Arboretum (USNA) if Option is exercised.
Be expected to work 40 hours per week (excluding Federal Holidays).
Complete work between the hours of 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (ET) M-F.
Must have 5+ years of experience in occupational safety and/or environmental management.
Protect all sensitive information being evaluated during writing and editing in accordance with Federal and USDA regulations and procedures.

Required Education
- Must have a degree in Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene or other appropriate Engineering or scientific specialty with expert knowledge and experience with occupational safety and environmental regulations and programs as applied in Agricultural Research Service operations or other agricultural and scientific research organizations.
Preferred Education
- Bachelor's degree from ABET accredited College or University and 5 years of related experience in occupational safety and/or environmental management.
