Job Description

Volant Partners, Inc is seeking a Software Engineer to assist our clients with the development and deployment of their products. Responsibilities will vary by client project, but the selected candidate will contribute to areas such as software design, software planning and estimation, software development and testing, updates and defect repair of systems developed by the customer. In addition, responsibilities will include working closely with all members of the development team throughout the software development lifecycle to ensure smooth delivery according to project milestones. 

As subject matter experts, selected candidates will use their depth of full stack software development knowledge to perform these tasks and introduce best practices to our clients. Successful candidates will be self-starters that are comfortable in situations where success is dependent on quickly understanding client challenges and addressing them.

This individual must have excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation) and be able to communicate effectively with different engineering disciplines, project, and client leadership. 

Our positions are hybrid of remote with on-site client work at times, so we are only seeking candidates in the greater Seattle area.

Typical Responsibilities

  • Participate in developing software solutions to fulfill project requirements.
  • Confer with users to define requirements and resolve problems.
  • Perform software development, coding, testing, and review activities.
  • Support design, estimation, and planning activities.
  • Champion software development best practices on their project.
  • Enable the project team to produce a quality product.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to knowledge sharing
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating and adopting them as appropriate to meet business needs

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full stack software development experience.
  • Knowledge of front-end web programming, such as HTML, CSS, Node.js, TypeScript, Bootstrap, and React, with ability to render server-side and client-side content.
  • Excellent knowledge in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C#, Kotlin, Rust).
  • Strong fundamentals in operating systems and network protocols.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience with project management tools such as Jira.
  • Demonstrated experience with industry standard software development best practices for Agile and Iterative SDLCs, development methodologies, implementation, and deployment activities.
  • Experience in everyday use of software version control systems (git).
  • Experience in a continuous integration environment (e.g., GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins).
  • Standard knowledge of relational and schemaless databases.
  • Experience in working with configuration managed requirements.
  • As a consultant, ability to effectively coordinate with client stakeholders and/or end users.
  • Fluent English in speech and writing (frequent communication with English-speaking clients).
  • Must be a US Person - U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
